Sure, some not-so-important duties may be essential to achieve your goals, but you can do those at a later time. But, if you put off important tasks, things may not function properly, and this will lead to a situation where you hurry and produce not-so-high-quality work.

2. Fix Goals To Achieve

If you want to achieve success, you should fix goals to achieve. Your goal could be big or small, but you move forward only if you fix a goal. Functioning without a goal to achieve is similar to a boat in the sea without a helmsman.

Moreover, make sure to write down your goals and stick them in a place that you come across daily. The reason behind this is pretty simple! Each time you see your goals, you will feel motivated, which prevents you from procrastinating.

Bonus tip: Never underestimate yourself. So, no matter how you are now, dream big and fix big goals. When you feel that your goals are too big to achieve, you should remember that many successful people were in the same situation as you during their early days. So, everything is possible!

This point is pretty crucial. Nowadays, we have many distractions around us. Some of them include phone messages, emails, social media feeds, etc.

Distractions are one of the primary things that make a person procrastinate his tasks. So always keep your workspace free from distractions as much as possible.

Moreover, self-control can keep you away from distractions, and it doesn’t let you procrastinate on tasks.

Sure, no one can work 24/7. We all have to agree upon this. Experts suggest that taking breaks between work sessions can help in increasing productivity. But, how should we take breaks? Here is my suggestion for it.

For every hour you work, give a 5-10 minute break. After 3-4 hours of your workday, take a much longer break of 30 minutes; usually, this would be your lunchtime.

Make sure to relax during your break hours; if you don’t, you will soon feel bored and procrastinate the tasks remaining for the day.

Also, taking breaks can help you to avoid distractions. Be noted that checking unwanted emails comes under the heading of distractions.

6. Prepare A Checklist Of The Tasks To Complete For A Day

Many people skip this point. However, to avoid prostration, preparing a checklist is a must!

The Following Are Some Suggestions On How To Prepare A Good Checklist

  • The important tasks for the day should be listed to be completed during the morning hours. Make sure to give enough time to relax between the tasks.
  • Afternoon hours and beyond, complete not-so-important tasks.
  • If you have created a feasible checklist, you would have around 1 hour to complete unexpected tasks of the day. On the days when you don’t get unexpected tasks, utilize the time to complete the tasks for the next day.
  • Lastly, the tasks listed for the day shouldn’t overwhelm you. If it does so, trust me, you will be demotivated and will eventually procrastinate.

You will go through many obstacles, but you shouldn’t give up. As per me, if you don’t give up, you have crossed half of your journey to success. But what about the remaining path? In this blog, I have explained in detail the steps for success. So, let’s get into the blog to learn about the remaining path to success.

As you all might know, fixing a goal is the first step to achieving success. But how many of us have set goals to achieve? Probably, less than half! Of course, this isn’t a good thing. If you want to achieve success, you should first set your goals to start working on the next steps. What’s the use of putting in effort when you don’t know where to stop and what to achieve? So, regardless of whether you like it or not, fix a goal before starting your success journey.

2. Ensure The Goals Are Realistic

Many people set unrealistic goals, and they complain that they aren’t able to achieve them. We, the people traveling towards our success journey, should avoid this mistake. When you set unrealistic goals, you will be demotivated psychologically, as you didn’t achieve your target. So, during the goal-setting process, know where you stand and give yourself sufficient time to achieve your target.

5. Stay Away From Distractions

This step is pretty crucial to achieving success. I’m pretty sure that we have a lot of distractions around us. For example, when typing this blog, I experienced distractions from my phone, laptop, etc. Similarly, you will also undergo distractions when reading this blog. Distractions are unavoidable. But, those distractions shouldn’t make us lose our concentration. If we fall into the trap of distractions, trust me, we will start procrastinating. Here’s my suggestion to avoid distractions during work. Take a break of around 10 minutes for every hour you work. During the break, you can check your phone, talk with someone, etc. If you follow this technique, there’s a high chance that you won’t be disturbed by distractions when working.

6. Learn From Other’s Mistakes

If you want to become successful, you must learn from successful people. Avoid the mistakes they have committed.

The Following Is An Example Of How To Emulate Success

Say you have started an e-commerce business, and say that you sell clothes. In this case, you can implement the strategies of the e-commerce business owners who became successful by selling clothes. Also, stay away from the mistakes that made them lose money as much as possible.

Before moving on to the next step, I would like to make this point clear. Learning from other’s mistakes doesn’t mean that you’ll not experience failures in your success journey. Instead, the impact and the number of failures will be reduced.

Handle the failures to the best of your ability, and when you undergo an issue that you aren’t able to solve, seek help from experienced people.

Last but not least, if you want to become successful, you have to take risks. There’s a difference between the risks taken by successful and unsuccessful people. If a successful person finds that the risk he is about to take will benefit him, he will proceed with that risk. However, unsuccessful people don’t know how to differentiate between beneficial and harmful risks. This leads them to undergo risks that can collapse their entire life! So, before taking risks, you have to thoroughly analyze it and take it only if it’s worth it!

Here’s an example of how to take a risk that can make you successful. Say someone’s selling their profitable business because they aren’t able to manage it. Let’s consider the business costs half of your net worth. In this case, you’re sure that you can make a lot of money in return. So, you should proceed with this risk.

Before getting started with self-motivation, I will quickly explain what motivation is. In simple terms, motivation is the force that makes people work hard and achieve success. It is one of the most important driving factors behind people’s success.

There Are Two Types Of Motivation

  2. Extrinsic motivation

Intrinsic Motivation

Intrinsic motivation is when you’re motivated because of internal factors. This can be due to personal satisfaction, joy, pleasure, etc. For example, if you play football because you like the sport, you are motivated by internal factors.

Extrinsic Motivation

Extrinsic motivation is when you’re motivated because of external factors. This includes getting motivated due to money, awards, etc. In the above example, if you play football to win a trophyyou are motivated by external factors.

Why Is Self-Motivation Important?

You would have come across many days where you feel bored. Also, you would have come across many days where you feel like procrastinating your tasks. This feeling is quite common! But, if you want to become successful, you must get rid of this feeling as much as possible. The weapon to get rid of this feeling is self-motivationSelf-motivation is the internal driving force that pushes you to achieve your goal.

1. Mingle With Good People

If you want to be self-motivated, you should mingle with motivated people. If you’re working in a company, there will be at least a motivating person who can help and motivate you during tough times.

Talking about friends, I understand that not all our friends will be positive. However, if you want to become successful, you should stop hanging out with negative friends.

As humans, we can’t be positively self-motivated at all times. At times when we undergo negative thoughts, a motivating person can open our minds and make us move forward.

2. Stop Wasting Time

I would like to ask you a question. Have you been through a workday where you felt like taking a short break and wasted a lot of time as a short break? 

I am pretty sure that most of you would have answered yes to this question. 

If you want to be self-motivated, you should stop wasting your time. When you feel like procrastinating your tasks, just take a few seconds to think about the consequences. 

If you want to work for long hours, take sufficient breaks in between. But, those breaks should last for a limited time, probably 5-10 minutes for each hour you work. This technique can prevent you from wasting your time!

3. Break Down Your Main Target Into Sub-Goals

Are you interested in making $1,000,000? If you answered YES, follow this technique to keep yourself self-motivated during your journey. When starting from scratch, $1,000,000 will seem unachievable. However, it’s possible to achieve it.

To avoid negativity and keep yourself self-motivated, break that $1,000,000 into several smaller parts. Also, make sure to specify the time frame to achieve the main target and sub-targets.

For example, consider that I want to achieve $1,000,000, and I’m starting from scratch. In this case, 3 years can be considered as a realistic time frame to hit my target. So, my sub-goal should be to make $27,777.77 (approximately $27,800) every month for 36 months. Thus, each time I achieve my sub-goal, I’ll get the self-motivation to move forward.

4. Monitor Your Progress And Congratulate Yourself

Say you’re working on achieving a big goal. During your journey, you can boost your self-motivation by congratulating yourself on your achievements. When you see your previous achievements, your inner self will ask you to move forward and achieve further goals. This is the power of self-motivation!

5. Learn New Things

Note: Don’t confuse learning with schooling! 

Learning about what’s happening in your niche can make you stay up-to-date. Since you’re up-to-date, when performing tasks, you’ll have the confidence that you’re correct. In other words, you’ll be self-motivated when performing tasks. 

Besides learning about what’s happening in your niche, spend some of your leisure time reading motivational books. If not, at least listen to motivational speakers. This can improve your self-motivation!

6. When You Need Help, Ask For It! Also, Help Others When They Approach You

During your journey to achieve success, you’ll undoubtedly require someone’s help. When you need help, don’t hesitate to ask for it.

When you don’t find solutions to problems, there’s a high chance that you can get some negative thoughts, which will lead to demotivation. So, when you seek help from the right person, you can proceed with your successful journey without losing self-motivation.

I understand that some might feel hesitant to ask others for help. But you need to note that as humans, we can’t know everything. So, instead of trying to solve problems that we don’t know about, we should ask someone experienced in that niche to solve them. Similarly, when someone asks you for help, offer it without hesitation!
